Wizkid Seems to be On A Different Sonic Direction With His More Love, Less Ego Album 612a3e

Do You Think Wizkid is on a Different Sonic Direction With the forthcoming More Love Less Ego Album?. In this article, TrendyBeatz analyses the new song by Wizkid, his evolution and how this track offers a sneak peek into his forthcoming album “More Love, Less Ego. (MLLE)”

music with one foot planted firmly at home for Africans while the other seeks success in international markets.

After several months of starving his fans with solo tracks, Wizkid finally announced on his IG story that he would release a song soon. This is not new to Wizkid fans, where he promises them new music and eventually not releasing it.

Fortunately, on the 12th of September, Nigerian International superstar Wizkid released his first official single of the year, titled “Bad To Me”, after much anticipation from his fans at home and abroad.

Is Wizkid Evolving Or Testing The Ground?

Growth and Discovery remain what every creative yearns to experience as they navigate their journey to creating timeless art. To evolve, develop, grow and explore different mediums and find new ways to create their art. This is important to discover and unleash new abilities without losing relevance in a dynamic world.

It’s the same narrative in new music genres are created. The pressure to keep up and create mind-blowing music that’ll connect souls can be quite damning.

On the other hand, there’s this comfort/stability that comes from honing your sound and creating within that circle. You become a maestro because you have learned to nurture your art in that space. But with comfort comes complacency. There needs to be room for exploration, to try new things, and only a few bold artists get to take the leaps to explore new territories.

This has always been how “Wizkid” moves his music over the years. He is always trying out a new sound, exploring new territories and balancing it on a project.

In his last project, “Made In Lagos”, Wizkid balances the formula to unite home and abroad with big Pop songs that can compete across cultures and an underlying theme that embraces his roots, broadening his audience and spotlighting a genre on a global powerhouse. So what should we expect on the new Album with the new song he just released?

“More Love, Less Ego (MLLE)” ALBUM AND EXPECTATIONS

As the Bad To Me, anticipation continues to ride regarding the sonic direction of this new project.

“Bad To Me” is an Amapiano-tinged track Wizkid rides the trending Amapiano wave and incorporates crowd vocals making it a sure party banger. He switches up the tempo, a step away from the mellowness, calmness and pop offered by the “Made In Lagos” Album.

In his first verse, Wizkid exhibits some restraint when he says, “And when we leave, we fit do am your way/ Or if you want, we fit do am my way.”

The P2j-Produced song encapsulates a nice time out in a club, leading to some love-making and money-switching hands.

Undoubtedly, this new song, “Bad To Me”, offers a sneak peek into his forthcoming Album More Love, Less Ego. An experimental tune, a deliberate tapping of the Amapiano wave. And If this single is anything to go by, we would certainly be getting a collection of party jams to end the year 2022. Produced by P2J and Sammy Soso, this new release after two years of his last project follows Made In Lagos (Deluxe), which doubles as the longest-charting Afrobeats album on Billboard, shows us that Wizkid is in a different sonic direction this time.

However, It’s been quite a consistent theme amongst music lovers and fans to throw a fit and their disapproval when an artist diversifies or explores a new sound outside their comfort zone. As expected, “Bad To Me” received mixed reactions, with some fans praising the artist for switching up his style while others criticised the Amapiano infusion.

To be fair, many of the reviews come from genuine love for the artists’ craft, as well as worry that this might affect them in the way. But the truth remains that trying something new is a blind leap of faith, and even with music, the path isn’t always as clear.

But this is Wizkid, and he’s not new to it. He’s always operating on a spectrum and killing it. His music isn’t stagnant. It’s moved and morphed into novel hits.

Should we expect the experimentation of “Bad To Me” on his Album, or is Wizkid just testing the ground? Let’s know your thoughts!
